ABOUT
Hannah Derue is a PhD Candidate in Neuroscience at McGill University, serial inventor, and founder/entrepreneur at Derue Technologies Inc.
Hannah sees lean startup methodology and the scientific method as fundamentally aligned. Both are iterative, hypothesis-driven frameworks for generating and validating knowledge. She applies this shared logic to drive progress across disciplines, working at the intersection of concepts that are often viewed as opposing, including:
Academia and industry;
Benchside research and bedside care;
Applying arts-based approaches to fundamental scientific questions.
As an aspiring future Principal Investigator, Hannah is deeply committed to mentorship, intellectual freedom, and interdisciplinarity. She has supervised over two dozen bachelor’s degree students in honours-level research courses in psychology, cognitive science, pharmacology, computer science, and business — A disproportionately high number of whom have gone on to graduate school themselves.
In parallel, she develops and advises early-stage ventures in translational strategy, non-dilutive funding, preclinical design, and academic–industry integration at her company.
Hannah is available for consulting and project-based collaborations with laboratories and biotechnology companies seeking clear scientific direction and disciplined execution from discovery to implementation.
